My name is Amalie Føreid Reinertsen, I am 26 years old and I come from a small town called Farsund in Southern Norway. I moved to Oslo in 2014 to study Pharmacy wherein I am still located. I graduated with a Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Oslo, Department of Pharmacy, in June 2019. In August the same year, I started on my doctorate in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Oslo, Department of Pharmacy. My master thesis studied synthetic pharmaceutical chemistry targeting oxygenated polyunsaturated fatty acids. Additionally, I have had a part time job at the Pharmacy during my Master and PhD studies to help me keep updated in the field of Pharmacy.
Although I enjoy working in the pharmacy, I believe my future lies in science and academia, which may be explained due to my curiosity and my continuous eager to learn and challenge myself. Eventually, I see myself either teaching or conducting research with the aim to help people. In January 2021, I volunteered as a Deputy shop steward for The Federation of Norwegian Professional Associations (Akademikerne) at the University of Oslo, which have provided me with great insight and knowledge in negotiation meetings.
Besides my professional life, I love skiing in the winter season and running and hiking in the spring and summer time. My academic studies are quite demanding, but I maintain these activities to keep myself both physically and mentally well.
