I am a phD student at UiT the Arctic University of Norway, in the group of Professor Ingar Leiros at the Department of Chemistry. Our group is a part of the NorStruct platform, that works with cold-adapted microorganisms and proteins from the arctic and protein structure determination by x-ray crystallography.
My phD project aims to study the structure and function of enzymes in the biosynthesis pathway of the bacterial metabolite ectoine, which is a protectant against environmental stress and of great industrial interest. The methods include recombinant expression and protein x-ray crystallography.
I have a master’s degree in Marine biotechnology from UiT. I did my masters project in the group of Ragnar L. Olsen, and in collaboration with the company Calanus AS; working with optimization of oil extraction from the copepod Calanus finmarchicus.
