I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bergen (UiB), Norway, on understanding the molecular basis of neuropsychiatric disorders such as bipolar disorders, depression, ADHD, substance use disorders, etc. During my previous postdoctoral stint at Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, I studied the molecular basis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, etc, by understanding the self-assembly behavior of proteins TDP-43 and alpha-synuclein. I obtained my Ph.D. in protein folding and aggregation from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, India.

In my current assignment at the UiB, I am exploring the molecular link between neurodegeneration and neuropsychiatry to explore whether two types of neuronal disorders share a common pathomechanism. I intend to leverage recently published genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to identify possible risk alleles and protein targets.
