After completing both here bachelor and master degree within the field of biotechnology in Vienna, Edda started a PhD in microbiology at the University of Tromsø. The project is about how methane oxidizing bacteria from High Arctic peatlands are affected by a warming climate. Currently she also works with the optimization of DNA modifying enzymes at NORSTRUCT. Those enzymes perform best at room temperature, an interesting property for different research and industrial applications. In her private life she likes to spend as many days as possible in the mountains, either working as an avalanche and climbing instructor or pursuing her own adventures.
