After completing both here bachelor and master degree within the field of biotechnology in Vienna, Edda completed a PhD in microbiology at the University of Tromsø. Currently, she works as a researcher in the Biological chemistry and Bioinformatics group at UiT. Her work is centered around the alteration and optimization of DNA modifying enzymes with an emphasis on developing enzymatic tools for molecular applications. Most of the enzymes she works with perform best at room temperature, an interesting property for both research and diagnostic applications.

In her private life she likes to spend as many days as possible in the mountains, either working as an avalanche and climbing instructor or pursuing her own adventures.
