Eva Smorodina is a computational structural biologist with a rich and diverse background in protein design and molecular modeling. She is a PhD Research fellow in Immunology at the University of Oslo since summer 2024. Her academic journey began at Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics, where she quickly gravitated towards research. Subsequently, Eva delved into studying cardiovascular diseases at the Virtual Structural Biology Group before broadening her focus to Alzheimer’s disease at Strodel lab at Forschungszentrum Jülich IBI-7. Eva further honed her skills at Harvard’s Sergey Ovchinnikov’s lab, exploring AlphaFold2 applications in structural biology. From there, she embarked on collaborative ventures, contributing to projects in structural immunoinformatics at Victor Greiff’s lab in Oslo and computational engineering of water-soluble membrane proteins at MIT’s Laboratory of Molecular Architecture. Eva also gained valuable industrial experience at several biotech companies, refining her skills in molecular dynamics and artificial intelligence for drug design. Recently, she became an Investment Fellow at Amino Collective, providing insights on cutting-edge approaches in life sciences.
