Originally from the Netherlands and obtained my master’s degree in molecular biology at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. During the master deepened my specialization in microbiology, with a special interest in the human microbiome. Performing my master thesis project on vaginal microbiome host interaction, and its biofilm behavior at the Karolinska Institute Stockholm, Sweden.

February 2024, I started as PhD candidate at Prof. Mark van der Giezen lab at the University of Stavanger, Norway. Here I study the role of Blastocystis in the gut microbiome of oncology patients receiving immunotherapy and how we can predict treatment outcomes. Mainly using fecal- and biopsy samples, exploring the pathogenicity of Blastocystis and its interaction with the host.
