I have a background in biochemistry studying enzymes active on brown seaweed polysaccharides. I wrote my master thesis on combining enzymes for the degradation of sugar kelp polysaccharides, and have contributed to papers on thermostable alginate lyases. My PhD focuses on fucoidan and fucoidan modifying enzymes, where the aim is to characterize both the structure of fucoidan isolated from brown seaweeds and the novel fucoidan active enzymes. I am mainly working on the Norwegian Seaweed Biorefinery Platform, but I am also involved in the SNAP and SFI project.
