I am a PhD student at the University of Stavanger, working in the lab of Prof. Federico Fenaroli on nanomedicines and intracellular pathogens. I have a master’s degree in cell biology from the University of Oslo, where I worked on endocytosis and the intracellular localisation of a Rab protein in polarised epithelial cells by transmission electron microscopy. In my PhD project I am studying Staphylococcus aureus infections in both the zebrafish embryo and in cultured cells. Here we are particularly interested in understanding and characterising the intracellular niche of this bacterium in immune cells such as macrophages, and investigating the use of nanomedicines to eradicate the infection.
