I started my PhD project after three years of teaching as a part of Teach First. I have a bachelor degree in Biotechnology from NTNU and a master’s degree in Biochemistry from NMBU, but I have now shifted my focus away from biochemistry towards functional genetics. The aim of my PhD project is to understand how chitinases (enzymes known to break down chitin) work in Salmonids. To do so I examine how the genes are expressed in the host, how they are regulated and how the enzymes work ex vivo.
