I did my master’s thesis in biotechnology at NTNU focusing on synthetic methanotrophy and C1 metabolism in the methylotrophic bacteria Bacillus methanolicus. In this project we tried to expand the substrate range of the microorganism to include alternative carbon sources. I briefly worked in health care after completing my master thesis before accepting a PhD candidate position at NTNU, in the same research group I did my master’s thesis. The PhD project aims to enable the utilization of waste products from the agricultural industry as alternative carbon sources for industrial production in the bacteria Corynebacterium glutamicum.
