Hello, my name is Victoria Jellestad Demmene and I am a 24-year-old master student at NMBU. I am originally from Sarpsborg in Norway, but I took my bachelor’s degree in biotechnology in the United States at Seattle University and Fairleigh Dickinson University. I am currently on the last year of my master’s degree and am doing my thesis. The research group I am a part of here at NMBU is The Bioprocess Technology and Biorefining group (BioRef). At Bioref I am a part of the seaweed group where my thesis involves finding and characterizing fucoidan-active enzymes to produce fucoidan oligomers, with the goal being to create a more sustainable carbon source for various applications, such as in fish feed.
