Description of Research Group
Analysis, control and management of open microbial systems. Focus is on unnatural (human made) ecosystems, such as water purification and aquaculture systems with reuse of water. Relevant processes include nitrification, degradation of organic matter, community level selection.
Technology, expertise and equipment
- Small scale reactor systems, where 20 units can be run with flow-through in parallel.
- Small scale recirculating aquaculture system (will be purchased winter 2020-21)
- Flowcytometer, high-throughput amplicon sequencing for analysis of microbial communities
- Expertise: microbial ecology, community level analysis
