Description of Research Group

We focus on Metalloproteins, radicals and redox active cofactors. We study protein structure and function by protein crystallography and by spectroscopy. We also perform studies of proteins in solution, including various biochemical investigations such as activity assays, kinetics, and studies of protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions using Microscale Thermophoresis (MST). Some of the proteins we are interested in, are ribonucleotide reductases class I and III, heme proteins, and flavoproteins.

Technology, expertise and equipment

We study protein structure and function by protein crystallography at (e.g. SNBL, MAX IV, SLS and ESRF) in addition by spectroscopy, including light absorption and Raman spectroscopy on single crystals in Oslo and at
synchrotrons. We have in Oslo Raman, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) and stopped flow/ rapid freeze quench instruments.
